Who We Are
We are pupils from all year groups who want to celebrate the many languages spoken at Churchfields School, and promote language learning. We enjoy learning different languages, and some of us speak a language other than English with our parents or grandparents at home.
What We Do
In the Linguist Champions group, we learn and share our knowledge of languages. Each week, we learn different phrases and teach these to our peers when we return to our classes.
Our job is to raise the profile of our diverse school community by making different languages known and used within our school.
- We have learnt to name some of the items in our classroom in French, and have labelled our classrooms to share this with other pupils.
- We have been researching how to say ‘Welcome’ in different languages so that we can make a display to welcome visitors to our school.
- Throughout the year we will be finding other ways to celebrate the diverse languages spoken in our school.
- We will be creating videos to welcome visitors and new pupils to our school in many different languages.
- We will be hosting a French breakfast, encouraging children, and adults, to experience French culture and order food and drink in French.
